Architectural Color & Texture
Carbit has a 100-year history of manufacturing coatings for a diverse range of markets. For the past twenty years, Carbit has supplied products for back-painting float glass, as well as coating metal doors, frames, and accessories. The finishes are available in water- and solvent-based formulas, in one- or two-component systems, and are suitable for a variety of environments and substrates.
It is often said that when glass, metal, and paint are combined, the whole becomes greater than the sum of its parts. This is especially true when considering the versatility of glass and aluminum.
Aluminum Coatings
Carbit’s 11 Series 2K solvent-based polyurethane is being applied with excellent results to various grades of aluminum. Doors, window frames, fasteners, and other components are effectively coated with the 11 Series. This polyurethane is durable, moisture-resistant, and able to withstand strong UV exposure.
Aluminum offers strength without weight, a smooth finish without the need for sanding, and a reliable surface for painting when prepared properly. A lesser-known challenge with aluminum is that it oxidizes quickly, forming a thin film that can hinder paint adhesion. Carbit has extensive experience in preventing this issue.
Color and Glass
Carbit’s 314 Series is a single-component, 1K, water-based coating designed to decorate architectural flat glass. The product dries under ambient conditions (72°F / 23°C at 50% RH) or can be force-dried quickly at moderate temperatures (2-minute flash, 20 minutes at 180°F / 82°C, at 1–1.5 mils DFT).
A splash of color can transform the ordinary into the impressive, bringing dull spaces to life. Carbit’s 314 Glass Back-Coating delivers vibrant color protected by tempered safety glass.
